Easier balance between life and study-Distance Learning

English for Careers

All course are based on the Oxford English for Careers texts. The text is required, and the course can not be done without it. Some courses have more than one Part, and a seperate text is required for each part. For example, Nursing is made up of Part 1, and Part 2. Each course can take around 15 weeks for a student studying full time, however Distance Learning takes account of the needs of students to balance a busy life with study, so each course is normally expected to be completed within 30 weeks.

The Oxford English for Careers series is ideal for pre-work students, who will need to use English in work situations. Your study guide will take you through the modules one by one, and through interaction with your teachers and other students, via the Student Connect link above, your progress will be assured. Each course is based on a specific career or specialist role and covers a wide range of much sought after workplace requirements.

Nursing 1 & 2
Nursing is ideal for pre-work students, studying at pre-intermediate to intermediate level, who will need to use English in work situations. It is also suitable for qualified nurses thinking of working in English-speaking countries.
  Nursing develops the vocabulary, language, and skills that students will need when working in a medical environment. These include talking about the body, describing signs of illness, and conveying instructions to patients and colleagues.

Medicine 1 & 2
Medicine is ideal for pre-work students, studying at upper-intermediate to advanced level, who will need to use English in work situations. It is also suitable for doctors and other health professionals who plan to work in English-speaking countries.
Medicine develops the vocabulary, language, and skills that students need to read and understand medical texts, to be successful in medical exams, and to communicate effectively and accurately with patients and colleagues.

Tourism 1, 2 & 3
Tourism is ideal for pre-work students, studying at pre-intermediate to upper-intermediate levels, who will need to use English in work situations.
Tourism is divided into three levels: Provision, Encounters, and Management. Each of these levels develops the vocabulary, language, and skills that students will need to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues, whether working in an administrative or managerial role.

Oil and Gas 1 is ideal for pre-work students, studying at elementary level, who will need to use English in work situations. 

Oil and Gas 1 develops the vocabulary, language, and skills that students need to understand the industry, and apply this knowledge to practical situations such as workshop operations and repairs and maintenance. Oil and Gas 2 develops the vocabulary, language, and skills that students need to understand the industry, and apply this knowledge to practical situations such as refinery processes and downstream distribution.

Technology is ideal for pre-work students, studying at pre-intermediate to intermediate level, who will need to use English in work situations.

Technology develops the vocabulary, language, and skills that students will need to communicate effectively when presenting an idea to non-specialists, problem-solving, and discussing the latest technological innovations.

Finance 1
Finance 1 is ideal for pre-work students, studying at intermediate level, who will need to use English to communicate effectively in the financial workplace. Finance 1 develops the vocabulary, language, and skills that students need for use in a range of financial careers such as accounting, economics, auditing, tax, banking, insurance, trading, and statistics.

This new edition of Highly Recommended has been completely revised to take account of innovations and changing practices within the sector.

Highly Recommended 1 and Highly Recommended 2 provide students with simple, functional language for dealing with customers and colleagues in a variety of situations, from taking reservations to dealing with complaints. The course offers a straightforward approach to developing speaking and listening skills in the context of the hotel and catering industry.
