The Academic English program has 3 levels of English study. These courses
depend individual student needs. All modules form part of your course.
- Pre-Intermediate (course CTC7403 English - Level 1)
- Intermediate (course CTC7404 English - Level 2)
- Upper-Intermediate (course CTC7405 English - Level 3)

1. Self access
Self Access is a program which assists students to develop individual study plans to tailor their language
studies to their own unique needs. Self access includes study sessions supervised by fully qualified Academic English teaching staff, who are available to answer questions and provide study advice.
2. Extensive reading
The Extensive Reading program runs for 20 minutes, 4 days each week. It has been shown to help students
develop good reading habits, natural expression and increase reading speed.
3. English only policy
To ensure that students get as much practice to develop their English language skills as quickly and as
effectively as possible, the Academic English program has an 'English only' policy. Our aim is for English to become so
natural for students that they will begin to think in English.All forum, chat, live and other communication should be in English.

Course materials are supplied as part of the registration fee.
Duration and starting dates
Courses run all the time. Students can start almost any time. For more details on these

- Level 1: English language skills of IELTS 4.0
(high school English)
- Level 2: English language skills of IELTS 4.5
or equivalent
- Level 3: English language skills of IELTS 5.0
or equivalent

Academic English is a program

an Academic English course for a variety of reasons.
Some students hope to:
- continue on at university but need to
develop their English language skills
- use English for travel purposes
- take a break from their formal studies
- Further their education by studying at home.
