Our training can help you gain valuable skills in English that will help you achieve success in a new job or career, or an international English exam. You will communicate better in English and be able to develop new opportunities for travel, employment, business and international friendships.

1. Practical Hotel and Resort English
2. Practical Business English for the Workplace

Hotel and Resort WOrkplace Business

   These are two very practical courses for people in the workplace, whether as interns or even as casual workers. You will be able to secure a good position in the company because you can interact with guests and customers in English. The Hotel & Resort unit gives you the English needed to work with guests and staff on a day to day basis. The Business English unit gives you the confidence and skill to be able to conduct yourself well in a busy business office, understanding spoken instructions and being able to pass on messages correctly.
Both short courses are designed to get your English levels in Speaking and Listening up to a good level, quickly. There are no text books to buy, as all the material you need is supplied online, and you can work at your own speed from the comfort of your home or office, completing the courses in the appropriate time allotted.

 

English for Specific Purposes

   Very practical English Language courses specifically designed for people already working, or wishing to work in a particular industry or profession. As listed in the left hand part of the page, these include the following:

These courses are designed to bring your English levels, especially in Speaking and Listening up to a high level, quickly. These courses are somewhat more detailed than simple on-the-job English, and do include written work and assignments. A Certificate is presented on Completion.

There is one text book to buy for each module, and an Oxford Advanced Student Dictionary Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary is highly recommended. As well, any other material you need is supplied online, including assignments and tutorials, and you can work at your own speed from the comfort of your home or office, completing the courses in the appropriate time allotted.

English for Careers

The Oxford English for Careers series is ideal for pre-work students, who will need to use English in work situations. Your study guide will take you through the modules one by one, and through interaction with your teachers and other students, via the Student Connect link above, your progress will be assured. Each course is based on a specific career or specialist role and covers a wide range of much sought after workplace requirements.

From School to University...

General English

General English

These courses are suitable for students who have a relatively low level of language competence but need to improve their all-round skills in English in order to reach the level required for a good score / pass in one of the internationally recognised English language examinations such as Cambridge PET,FCECAECPE, or IELTS. Good results in these exams may be necessary for those wishing to attend university courses in this country, and will also often lead to better employment opportunities in the future.
The main aim of our General English courses is to teach students to speak English fluently and to understand English as it is spoken by native speakers. We provide a balanced programme of skills development (Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing and Grammar).

This Distance Learning program is textbook based core instruction, review tests, language lab work and electives. Each level is made up of up to 12 modules and students are expected to complete one module per week. Students can commence learning at any time, at any level that is determined by their level indicated by the Placement Test. The Placement Test is available at any time, via the Student Connect tab at the top of the page.

There are five levels, or modules:

  • beginner 
  • elementary
  • pre-intermediate
  • intermediate
  • upper intermediate.

 

English for Academic Purposes


Academic English

The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program is designed to provide students with the study skills necessary for entry into college or polytechnic diploma level programs or university undergraduate study. The courses are designed to prepare international students and academic visitors for study at University level.   Students enrolled in the EAP program will learn to:

  • develop skills to read quickly and understand English academic texts
  • write academic essays and reports in English
  • give effective presentations
  • understand academic lectures and seminars in English and take notes
  • participate fully in English in the academic classroom
  • develop learning skill and research strategies for successful academic study
  • During the courses, students will develop their skills in 
    - understanding lectures 
    - reading academic texts effectively 
    - taking notes from lectures and written texts 
    - writing academic essays 
    - participating in seminars and discussions 
    - giving presentations 
    - interacting in social situations 

    The courses will also include general study skills and cultural orientation. 

This Distance Learning program is textbook based core instruction, review tests, language lab work and electives. The EAP course is made up of 15 modules. Each module is expected to take 2 weeks to complete. Students can commence learning at any time, determined by their level indicated by the Placement Test. The Placement Test is available at any time, via the Student Connect tab at the top of the page. To enter the EAP program, a student must achieve a level that indicates a strong familarity with English already. Success at Upper Intermediate level in General English may also indicate this, as will a score of better than 80% in the Placement Test.
